Here we are again: the bright summer mornings have been replaced by gray mist and drizzle, and the mood tends to dip a little despite ourselves. Shoes get wet, coffee doesn’t warm quite the same way, and outside, you’d rather walk toward home and the couch than into the autumn fog. But hey, no worries! At Ateljee Piccolo, we have the perfect remedy for the autumn blues: heartwarming tufting courses.

Yesterday, on Saturday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the wonderful Auli all the way from Oulu. She didn’t come empty-handed; out of love for her pet, she came up with an idea and created a stunning dog textile. At the same time, we talked about life, tufting, and how skeins of yarn can genuinely lift your spirits. In that moment, I realized that autumn can be both chilly and lovely—if you just find the right yarn and the right company.

It was wonderful to hear that she had been searching for a new hobby for a while and something to try, yet, in her own words, she wasn’t much of a craft person. That’s what’s great about machine tufting: you don’t need to be a master of knitting or crochet—the technique can be learned quickly, and in the course, you can create a real textile to take home. It was also amazing that she found our small tufting studio and decided to make the long trip. That’s why we were able to arrange a suitable tufting schedule around the trains and other logistics, and she got to finally take the craft course she had been thinking about for a long time.

During these darkening days, it’s definitely worth coming to try machine tufting. There’s something magical about watching colorful wool transform in your hands into a soft work of art—and at the same time, your spirits are lifted as if it were a sunny summer morning.

Tufting course: 1-day or 2-day €160, and trimming courses are also available for €125.50. You can also combine them—Saturday tufting and Sunday trimming.
