Ateljee Piccolo Flies on New Wings – From Hämeenlinna to Helsinki!

Oh, what a journey! 🎨✈️ Ateljee Piccolo has officially traded the idyllic landscapes of Hämeenlinna for the bustling streets of Helsinki – with a touch of nostalgia, but mostly excitement.

The move was no small feat: my little Fiat might have managed one cone of yarn and a single wooden frame, but transporting a couple of hundred cones of yarn, tufting guns, frames, and other studio supplies required professional help. And thank goodness I called in reinforcements – otherwise, I probably would have ended up spinning around in traffic like a yarn ball with no idea where to go.

It was a big task ahead, but luckily I had a wonderful support crew from the start: Brooke from Yoga Studio Nada, Natalie from Kusnisew, and her partner Herkko were there, painting, organizing, and enjoying pizza (apparently just as essential as the actual painting). Overall, it took surprisingly long to get the studio ready – about two weeks – before all the walls were painted, shelves assembled, and boxes unpacked. Gray hairs appeared along the way, but that’s the life of an entrepreneur, right? The result was totally worth it. Thanks to the amazing team 💖

The first course in the new studio has already taken place, and I must say: the joy was palpable. People interested in tufting are truly a happy, enthusiastic group – and seeing them walk through the door with open minds warms the heart.

At Ateljee Piccolo, we offer beginner-friendly tufting and mosaic courses where no prior crafting experience is needed. Here, you can try your wings with wool, softglass pieces – or even both – in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

And now, big news: starting in February, we’re opening the studio for self-guided tufting sessions!

Additionally, we offer Mosaic & Wine workshops, where you can create something beautiful and lasting in a relaxed atmosphere – while enjoying a glass of your favorite drink. (Bring your own favorite beverage; we provide all the workshop materials, bottle openers, and mugs.)
